In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8, we’ve been reflecting on the many ways in which women have shaped the coffee industry. Through the years and into the present, women have played a crucial role in the coffee industry, from planting and harvesting to buying and selling.
All throughout our company’s activities, we have worked to promote gender equality and champion women. We aim to foster a welcoming and safe environment for all members of our team, regardless of their gender, so that they may each feel comfortable and supported in doing the kind of meaningful work that brings them joy.
The incredible women who are a part of our team and have made such a significant impact on our company and the industry are a particular source of pride for us. Everyone on our team, from the fearless leaders to the talented saleswomen and junior data scientists to the dedicated members of our marketing departments, who exhibit the miraculous results that can be achieved when women are given positions of power. We, at Tuan Loc Commodities, owe a great deal to the hard work and dedication of these ladies.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the women in our community who play an instrumental role in making our coffee so enjoyable.
We asked them to share their experiences working in the coffee industry at TLC and the ways in which they and other women are contributing to the sector’s growth and development to create a better world. And here are what they said:
Tuyet Kha Ngo – Marketing Executive
“My relationship with coffee is special, I find that my interest in coffee is a valuable asset in my work. I’ve put in a lot of time and effort to learn everything I can about coffee, from how it grows and is harvested to how it’s traded and exported and even how it’s roasted. I have been given the opportunity to participate in the company’s environmentally responsible projects directed at farmers, as well as many internal training sessions. In addition to supporting the ongoing evolution of the company’s marketing strategy. I’m doing what I can to spread enthusiasm for coffee and educate people about the industry through what I call the “art form”: being inventive, impressive, and insightful. I hope to contribute to the betterment of our global community. Therefore, I do think that women can accomplish great things when we pool our strengths of encouragement, compassion, and respect. Everything is possible, I’m sure of it.”
Thuy Van Nguyen – Business Analyst
“As a member of Tuan Loc Commodities’ research department, I perform thorough research and analyze market trends to help the company’s decision-makers make informed decisions that move the company forward. I also work with the team to deal with the company’s ERP system. I help capture, analyze, and use the company’s data efficiently and correctly using my technical skills. I make sure the ERP system is fully integrated and aligned with the company’s aims by working with other divisions like purchase, sales, factory, and logistics.
As a woman in business, I’m happy to contribute to Tuan Loc Commodities’ growth”.
Linh Ngo – Green Coffee Trader
“As a coffee trader, I find myself motivated to gain knowledge about coffee that goes beyond just a appreciation of the product. Understanding the complexities of coffee allows me to ensure that my customers receive the highest quality product. My perspective as a female trader provides a unique and valuable contribution. I am proud to be part of Tuan Loc Commodities and our efforts towards building a more sustainable and equitable coffee industry, which includes empowering women in coffee and promoting gender equality.
Learning about coffee not only satisfies my passion for this fascinating product, but also allows me to be a part of the positive change the industry is undergoing”.
Kim Cuc Vo – Traffics Executive
“I’m fortunate to work with a group of smart, driven young women. Controlling the stock level across all factories and allocating/arranging the deliveries to maximize the capacity of each warehouse is part of my job. I am also responsible for ensuring that deliveries from suppliers are received on schedule and in a smooth manner.
In the same way that my seniors at TLC were an example to me, I hope that I can serve as an inspiration to my juniors when they consider a career as a Traffic member in this industry. They have proven that not only males but women can run the job, so don’t be afraid to take on new challenges, as I have seen my teammates do”.
Hien Pham – Quality Control Officer
“It is my job to evaluate incoming coffee beans for quality in order to select only the good qualified beans, ensuring that our customers always receive the freshest and most flavorful goods for brews. The quality of the coffee the company buys, sells, imports, and exports is a key factor in all of these decisions. Superior coffee equals more respect and loyalty from your clientele. The company’s expansion is driven by consumers’ growing satisfaction and confidence in its products. I’m glad to have played a small role in the growth of the company and the coffee industry.
In addition, I pray that women everywhere enjoy equal rights, equal pay, and equal respect”.
The coffee industry, which spans the globe and is rich in variety, has traditionally been dominated by men. Though women and the coffee industry have made great strides forward, there is always more to be done. Tuan Loc Commodities is pleased to contribute to the advancement of women in the coffee industry not just on International Women’s Day, but every day!
