“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.” – Robert Swan
At Tuan Loc Commodities, we strive every day to take sustainability matters into our own hands, as we believe one does not have to engage in grand, heroic actions to participate in change. Small acts, when multiplied by millions of people, can transform the world.
Our CSR programs and sustainability projects cover the 3 following objectives
In our coffee industry, millions of farmers, mostly smallholders, are living at subsistence levels, while natural resources, such as soil and water, are being degraded or lost at an alarming rate. Meanwhile around a third of all food produced is lost or wasted. With the population set to increase by 2 billion by 2050 – our food system is not sustainable.
We need to put more back into food and farming systems than is taken out. We call this having a ‘net positive impact’ by creating ‘living landscapes’ where prosperous farmers and thriving communities co-exist with healthy ecosystems.
We want to leave the world better than we found it!
We also know that the social and environmental changes required to meet the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) cannot be achieved by anyone, business or stakeholder acting alone. Government, business, and society, and each of us as individuals – all have both a stake and an impact, in this global effort. Therefore, Tuan Loc Commodities is working to define the concrete objectives of the SDGs in the Vietnam coffee context and build those objectives into our action plan in the years to come. At the end of the day, we want to leave the world better than we found it!
